Mobile Devices for Education

According to the United Nations, the education in Ukraine has been disrupted for more than five millions children.

UN News reports that “Thousands of schools, pre-schools and other education facilities in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed due to the use of explosive weapons in the war, including in populated areas.

At the same time, many parents and caregivers are reluctant to send children to school, fearing for their safety.

The small family-style orphanages that Nova Spark Foundation is working with often times do not have a choice to send the children to school during the war. They raise 10-15 children of various ages in their homes. It is not uncommon for a family to share 1 older laptop among all children trying to study. It becomes even more impossible when an orphanage does not have a power generator and faces many hours of power outages each day, which further cuts down on the number of hours available for each child to study.

We are determined to enable these children to continue their education during the times of war and destruction by supplying them with mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets. Having their own electronic devices allows them to complete their school work each day, participate in extracurricular activities online, and to keep in touch with their friends whom they cannot see otherwise.

Furthermore, the funds we raise allow us to provide access to online schooling for children who have been displaced or are living in occupied territories. We also aim to give these children an opportunity to make up for the classes they have missed due to the war, enabling them to complete their high school education and apply to colleges.

We firmly believe that education is a fundamental right for every child, regardless of their circumstances. By supporting our cause, you will be helping us ensure that Ukrainian children affected by the war have access to quality education, thus empowering them to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
